Visit to the Gypsum Caves and Local Lunch
Millions of years ago, much of Almería lay beneath the sea, creating the conditions for the vast underground gypsum cave network found here today—one of Europe’s most remarkable karst landscapes. We reach the caves by a scenic route through dramatic countryside and past gypsum quarries.
Equipped with the provided helmet and torch, you will explore the cave for approximately 1.5–2 hours under expert guidance. Learn how this subterranean world formed and admire dazzling gypsum crystals as they sparkle in the torchlight. The route includes narrow passages, steps, bending and uneven rocky ground.
After the cave visit, there will be time to relax and enjoy a typical local lunch before returning to your accommodation. Children aged three and over are welcome when accompanied by an adult and comfortable with the cave environment.
