Playa de los Muertos and Carboneras in Pictures

Travel from the Vera and Mojácar area into the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park for a relaxing excursion combining dramatic coastal scenery, local history and time beside the Mediterranean.

Admire Playa de los Muertos from a spectacular viewpoint, walk down to the beach and explore Mesa Roldán, home to an 1863 lighthouse and a historic defensive tower used as a filming location for Game of Thrones. The route continues to Carboneras and includes a final surprise stop before returning.

Lunch and refreshments in Carboneras are optional and are not included in the tour fee. Access to the beach involves a fairly steep, stony path of approximately 500 metres, taking around 10–15 minutes each way, so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Paul es un guía fabuloso y muy amable, con gran conocimiento de la historia y cultura local. Su recomendación del restaurante en Carboneras fué excelente, todos los platos exquisitos y un trato muy familiar. Para finalizar la visita Paul nos llevó a un paraje secreto y muy singular.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a lovely tour it was, Paul was very helpful and informative. Ae learnt so much about the areas we visited. The tour included a nice beach, then some history - visiting a lighthouse , castle and more. Followed by a lovely lunch on the beach. Finally the surprise he had for us was something I’d been wanting to see for ages.

Playa de los Muertos and Carboneras

We head towards the iconic Playa de los Muertos, stopping first at a panoramic viewpoint with spectacular coastal views and excellent photo opportunities. We then continue to the beach, reached by a fairly steep, stony path of approximately 500 metres that takes around 10–15 minutes to walk.
Next, we travel up to Mesa Roldán, where an impressive lighthouse dating from 1863 stands beside a historic defensive tower used as a filming location for Game of Thrones.
We continue to Carboneras to experience the atmosphere of this traditional fishing village. You may choose to enjoy lunch or refreshments in a local restaurant (not included in the tour fee) before we return to your accommodation, with one final surprise stop along the way.

Pick-up time: Approximately 9:30 am
Return time: Approximately 2:30 pm
What you'll need: Comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear, beach footwear, a hat and sun cream for sun protection, and drinking water. A reasonable level of fitness is required for the steep, stony path to the beach.
